A highlight of the year for engineering graduates is the Graduation Banquet that takes place in March. Following the APEGA workshops and receipt of their iron rings, graduating Schulich engineers head to downtown Calgary to celebrate their degrees amongst family and friends. This 600-person banquet showcases the hard work put in by the students, and three individuals are awarded with leadership awards for their engineering spirit and contributions to the school. Outstanding professors are also recognized at this banquet through the Teaching Excellence Awards. Students look forward to the presentations from the class historians (one from each department) who have prepared a video commemorating the learning that has occurred in the duration of their degrees. The entire night is a fun-filled event where the soon-to-be Schulich alumni are celebrated for the accomplishment of completing their degrees and receiving their iron rings.
