Frosh week is one of the biggest events of the year! As a first year student, this is your opportunity to get to know your classmates, meet upper year students, and learn a little bit about what it means to be apart of the engineering community. This year, join us for the Minotaur Run, movie night in the engineering lounge, and of course Tap the Town!
Have you ever talked to a total stranger? In a Halloween costume? On campus? For money? Well now you can! Armed with only cups to hold donations, ENGG students dress up in costumes to beg, plead, and harass students around campus to donate their change to charity. This hour long parade raises around $1000 every year. Come see us in the ESS Office on Halloween!
You’ll get to hit a car with a sledge- hammer for a reasonable price, so you relieve some stress and raise money for charity at the same time.
The Alberta Cup, a masterpiece made of aluminum that lights up when you put BEvERages in it, is the prized chalice of Alberta’s engineers. This cup makes its way up and down the QEII twice a year. U of A’s ESS will call our office and say “We have a cup for you. You have three and a half hours.” U of C engineers must then make it to their office to claim the Cup and party for the night. We bring the cup home and repeat the process later in the year. This trip is incredibly fun, open to all engineers, and something you’ll remember for years to come.

The history of POETS (Piss On Everything – Tomorrow’s Saturday) is a long and proud one. The music plays loud and the good times flow in the Engg Lounge. POETS has had many themes, from Angry Birds to Pyjama Parties to pumpkin carving to sports tournaments. This is a great way to meet friends and unwind after a week of classes. Watch for announcements about POETS throughout the year.
